If extras are needed, one can use the transpose trick (for oboe, clarinet or bassoon), reinsert a BWW instrument for the third part, or use an instrument from another library. The most common oboe plays in the treble or soprano range. In general, the strings are the backbone of the orchestra and given the most important melodic parts of the score. This was due in part to the use of cross-fingerings (in place of a key system) which obscured the sound. I'm able to provide an estimate of the value of the instrument(s) as well as an estimate for restoration of the instrument(s).

My understanding is that these two instruments are being recorded in September 2012. We benefit greatly from the continued support of our loyal customers, our tireless manager, Celia Bryan, our oboist friends Ray and Ellie Dusté, and Peter and Joan Klatt. Some people even claim that the reed is connected in some way to 90% of all problems that oboe players encounter. Loree seems to have used [so far] three different types of polymer to make their synthetic oboes.

LOREE - Marcel Loree left the family business to set up his own atelier. The reed is considered the part of oboe playing that makes it so difficult because slight variations in temperature, altitude, weather, and climate will change a perfectly working reed into an unplayable collection of cane. Inside the tube the pressure can be higher or lower, but the air is less free to move. The oboe looks very similiar to the clarinet except for the fact that it has a double reed.

Since now over 50 years the name Marigaux has been associated with those of the greatest oboe players, its reputation ever continuing to assert itself. The baroque oboe was generally made of boxwood and had three keys; a "great", and two side keys. (The side key was often doubled to facilitate use of either the right or left hand on the bottom holes) In order to produce higher pitches, the player had to "overblow," or increase the air stream to reach the next harmonic.

The current Bass Oboe would now become the Tenor Oboe, a new instrument in F an octave below the English Horn would now be called the Baritone Oboe, and finally an instrument an octave below the Tenor Oboe would be the new Bass Oboe. So called because originally these instruments were all made of wood. On the 1st day, that went fine and I made some observations that I wanted to confirm on the 2nd day…… problem, on the 2nd day all reeds had 2 phases: In the morning, they were all rock hard, didn’t crow, didn’t wheeze, just hard!

The seating of the orchestra however remains unchanged: Flutes and oboes left in front in the first row. This woodwind quartet is for 1 Flute, no Oboe, 1 Clarinet, 1 Bassoon, 1 Horn and Piano. You'll see that chord progressions can produce powerful emotional effects and can be more than simply a background for melody. In polyphony several melodic lines compete for attention. (When several jazz musicians improvise ·different melodies at once, they produce polyphony.) Polyphony adds a dimension that has been compared to perspective in painting: each line enriches and heightens the expression of the others.
